A beautifully intense deep red colour, almost black with glints of garnet.
On opening, the nose explodes with black fruit, sweet spices, nutmeg, wild blackberry and black cherry. With the deuxième nez, the wine develops more empyreumatic aromas with notes reminiscent of coffee beans, cocoa and liquorice candies.
The palate is still young and spirited. The attack is direct and virile. The resinous fragrance of cedar and juniper berries is still dominant. The tannins are powerful and effusive. The élevage in French oak barrels has been crucial in channelling its strength and harnessing its temperament; but it will be necessary to be a little more patient to fully enjoy its qualities.
Rather boisterous in its youth, this Roche Pierre cuvée is created with rich, concentrated grapes from the old syrah vines which spread their roots deep in the granitic terroir.
The 2010 is, in our opinion, one of the best millésimes of the last decade and we are proud of this achievement. Be prepared to wait another 4 to 8 years before enjoying this wine with highly-flavoured dishes – marinated meat and game.
