Crozes-Hermitage Roche Pierre 2011

Tasting notes

A deep, intense ruby coloured wine with cherry-red glints that still testify its youth.

The nose is complex. It needs a little agitation in the glass to develop the intensity of its typical black fruit, blackberry liqueur, roasting, cocoa bean and white pepper aromas.

The palate is rich and powerful. This cuvee is only produced when we judge it good enough to honour the values of the domaine, and then only in small quantities. In 2011 the tannins had a great maturity. They are present and support the perfectly constructed structure to great effect.

Careful élévage has given the wine a lot of power and has tempered its rather masculine character. It reveals itself today as a balanced, harmonious wine.

However, it will be necessary to wait another 4 to 6 years to benefit fully from its richness and complexity. To be drunk with red meats, wine stew or small game, like pigeon.
