St Joseph Les Rivoires 2011

Tasting notes

Cherry-red with ruby glints, the brightness shines from this St Joseph.

The terroir, in the south of the appellation, gives this wine both softness and power. The wine has great aromatic finesse. Immediate ripe fruit – juicy cherry and crushed strawberry. Then, as it breathes, delicate woody notes bear witness to its élevage in French oak casks, which brings out the best of the sumptuous, fully-ripe grapes.

The palate is soft, smooth and creamy. The balance between the tannins, the freshness and the nose creates a harmonious wine, with no heaviness.

Its ethereal qualities lead us to suggest drinking without delay with white meat, and lightly spiced dishes, but it can equally be kept for a few years to accompany venison steak, whose texture will bring out the delicacy of the tannins.
