St Joseph Les Rivoires 2014 Tasting notes The colour is a beautiful deep ruby red with purple flashes, almost black. In the nose, this St Joseph already develops intense notes of black fruit, sweet spice and fruit liqueurs, bringing raspberry and blackberry to mind. Then it’s the scent of light menthol, which comes onto the scene with almost saline, iodised notes and also cocoa powder. The palate is both juicy and full, and sustained by a delicate freshness. The tannins are smooth and supple, which gives it that charming, tenacious, almost feminine aspect that characterises this wine year after year. You will have to wait another 2 to 3 years at least for it to express all its qualities. Then it can be drunk with a filet mignon, game birds, stuffed poultry or in the company of fresh truffles.
